Much can be said about gratitude. It’s the very starting point for success. Basically, the law of attraction states that you first must be grateful for what you have, and then you will have more to be grateful for! Enjoy all the little things!

Many of us take things for granted without showing gratitude. Most of us already have food, clothing, and shelter. But there is much morgratitude, enjoy the little thingse of which we aren’t always aware, that we can be grateful for. Such as our spouse or partner, our job, our kids, our health, or friends, and the many things that God created on this earth for us! Consider any and all accomplishments you’ve had in the last five years.

I’ve been there. I’ve struggled alone, felt I had no support, and didn’t believe I could achieve what others have. I thought I just wasn’t smart enough, or I always had some excuse. I lost self-esteem, was always thinking negatively, and didn’t feel worthy of anything better.  But prior to this time, I studied self-development for many years, and even wrote a guidebook titled, Positive Approach to Success. Life was good.

Then, after experiencing losses in my life, I allowed myself to become defeated. I struggled for many years. When I finally made up my mind to get out of that dark place, I began to apply these different self-development methods, and my life has become great again. And it can for you, too – starting right now!

Here are three ways that you can choose to show gratitude right now.

  1. Make a list. If you are feeling depressed, begin by being thankful. If you want to be truly happy, you first need to appreciate what you already have. Begin writing down everything you can think of that you are grateful for right now. Write down all of the positive accomplishments that you have achieved, and all the small things you appreciate. Things like; moved to a new place, got married, survived a death or a divorce, the soft green grass in the yard, your morning coffee, etc. Make sure you write down everything, no matter how small it may seem. Go ahead, get that pen and paper, and start writing! Take your time. See just how much you can come up with. When your list seems fairly complete, look it over. You’ve probably accomplished quite a bit already! Make sure and credit yourself for that! In the mean time, don’t forget to let yourself ENJOY these accomplishments. Kudos!
  2. Keep a gratitude journal. I heard that Oprah Winfrey has been writing in a gratitude journal for a long time. Every night before you go to sleep, write down five things you were grateful for that day.
  3. Visualize and use affirmations. Whether you meditate, pray or create a vision bored (hopefully, you do all three). Take the time to do these through out the day. I would suggest once in the morning and once before going to sleep at night. See yourself already having accomplished your goal, because this will help to reinforce in your mind, the goal you have set.

Finally, Keep In Mind

Regardless of your abilities, faith, hard work, etc., there is still going to be circumstances in life of which you have no control. Rather than victimizing yourself, and thinking negatively, I encourage you to stop and put things into perspective. Pay attention to your thinking! Try and catch yourself if you have a negative thought. Then turn it around by being grateful for something. The more gratitude you have, the more good things will come to you.

Fortunately, we have a choice everyday in regards to the attitude we will embrace for the day. Life is 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we react to it. If we choose the attitude of gratitude mentality, we will be well on our way to the success we desire in our life.
